Purpose of the job
At Collinson Travel Experience, we are on a dynamic journey to create globally-focused, customer- centric solutions while embracing regional diversities. In the pivotal role of Web Technology Lead, you will play a crucial part in shaping and guiding the evolution of our web technologies and offerings.
In this multifaceted role, not only will you guide a skilled team of web engineers in the development and enhancement of our broad range of web applications, but you will also directly contribute to the projects. As an individual contributor, your hands-on involvement will be critical in crafting advanced tooling and robust web platform. These initiatives are vital as they lay the groundwork for our regional and client development teams, who rely on your expertise and our foundational web infrastructure to innovate and expand our core web capabilities with precision and creativity.
Key Responsibilities
Independently design and develop sophisticated web solutions using React, ensuring code and architectural quality through rigorous peer programming and code reviews.
Act as a key individual contributor, utilising TypeScript and JavaScript to craft scalable, maintainable, and robust code.
Apply modern styling techniques to create visually appealing and responsive designs that adhere to accessibility standards, particularly WCAG.
Proactively engage in the creation and maintenance of detailed code documentation that aligns with company standards and accurately captures system functionality and technical implementations.
Offer hands-on technical guidance and support to the product and technology team on both new and existing web solutions.
Lead by example in championing agile best practices and Continuous Delivery to efficiently address the product backlog.
Provide mentorship and coaching to peers, fostering a culture of excellence in our engineering community.
Engage in one-on-one sessions with peers, facilitating career progression and professional growth, while also driving quarterly career conversations.
Contribute to detailed planning efforts, providing estimations for development tasks while identifying any technical, resource dependencies, or risks.
Play an active role in agile planning and design sessions, offering insights and contributing to software analysis, design, and specification tasks.
Deliver competent and proactive technical support to customers and clients as needed, embodying professionalism and responsiveness.
Initiate and support agile process improvements to enhance productivity, effectiveness, and the team's overall professionalism.
Participate actively within the Code Peer Review community to elevate the quality of software development.
Contribute to regular Project Team meetings, ensuring that key decisions, risks, and issues are communicated and addressed.
Knowledge, skills, and experience required
• Demonstrable expertise in React, with a profound understanding of front-end technologies including TypeScript, JavaScript, and familiarity with state management libraries such as Redux, Context hooks etc.
• Advanced proficiency in modern styling practices using CSS, SCSS, or Less, with a strong commitment to creating accessible web content adhering to WCAG standards.
• Experience in developing and executing data-driven solutions that prioritise customer satisfaction and user experience.
• Proven track record in leading the development of large-scale, enterprise-level web solutions with a global impact.
• Adept at simplifying complex issues into streamlined, user-centric solutions.
• Solid experience with web analytics platforms, using data to inform design and development decisions.
• Understanding in Web 3.0 technologies, with a keen understanding of front-end interactivity, including AR/VR, and familiarity with the basics of blockchain, IoT, decentralised networks, and AI.
• Comprehensive knowledge and application of SOLID principles, design patterns, and the ability to apply these concepts in practical development scenarios.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Test Driven Development (TDD), unit testing, and integrating with GraphQL, with experience in continuous integration and deployment workflows.
• Capacity to mentor and provide technical guidance to engineers, fostering a learning environment.
• Knowledgeable in deploying cloud-based solutions using AWS and infrastructure as code with Terraform.
• Desirable experience with PCI DSS compliant products and understanding the nuances of secure software products.
• Experience managing stakeholder relationships effectively across various levels both internally and externally.
• Skilled in managing multilingual websites on a global scale and experienced with the migration from legacy CMS to modern Headless CMS platforms such as Contentful, Prismic, Sanity, and dotCMS.
• Ability to operate in a fast-paced and evolving environment, demonstrating a pragmatic and delivery-focused attitude.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-
technical stakeholders.
• Creative thinker who can generate innovative ideas and facilitate ideation among team members.
