Purpose of the job
Join our dynamic team as a Senior Front-end Engineer in the vibrant travel market. We are on the hunt for a techie with a flair for crafting amazing front-end solutions. Your role is pivotal in sculpting a user experience that resonates with global travellers, utilising your profound expertise in Front-end Development. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and enhancement of visually stunning and functionally superior front-end interfaces, specifically tailored for the travel market.
- Drive the implementation of cutting-edge front-end technologies (React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS/SCSS) to craft responsive, accessible, and cross-browser compatible web applications.
- Champion the integration of advanced APIs, with a special focus on GraphQL, to seamlessly connect our services and deliver on user experiences.
- Collaborate actively within an agile development environment, contributing to continuous improvement with your strong background in CI/CD methodologies.
- Utilise your proficiency in tools like Webpack, Storybook, and Git to optimise development workflows, ensuring efficient and scalable codebases.
- Engage in responsive design, UI testing, performance optimisation, and browser debugging to elevate the quality and responsiveness of our web applications.
- Innovate in building reusable components and libraries, aiming for long-term scalability and maintainability.
- Translate complex business requirements into technical solutions, demonstrating your ability to understand and address market needs.
- Continuously expand your skill set, learning from peers and through self-driven research, staying abreast of the latest industry trends and technologies.
- Exercise your judgment in the use of NPM packages, weighing the benefits of existing solutions against the unique value of custom-built code.
- Design and implement robust unit testing strategies to ensure the reliability and maintainability of code.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive suite of unit tests, improving code quality and facilitating early detection of issues.
- Collaborate with the team to integrate unit tests into the CI/CD pipeline, enabling continuous quality checks and efficient deployment.
Knowledge, skills and experience required
- Demonstrable expertise in front-end engineering, with a rich portfolio of projects.
- Mastery of front-end technologies (React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS/SCSS) and experience with modern development tools (Webpack, Storybook, Git).
- Strong foundation in RESTful API development and a keen understanding of GraphQL for sophisticated integrations.
- Experience in creating web applications that go beyond standard websites, focusing on responsive, user-friendly designs.
- Proficiency in UI testing, performance optimisation, and browser debugging to ensure top-notch quality and user experience.
- Proven ability in building reusable components and front-end libraries for future scalability.
- Capability to understand business needs and effectively convert them into technical requirements.
- Experience in working with diverse build tools like NPM and Webpack, and version control systems like Git.
- A track record of collaborating closely with designers and developers, building websites from Figma specifications, and ensuring cross-browser and device compatibility.
- Commitment to continuous learning, self-evaluation, and constructive collaboration within the team.
- Agility in adapting to new challenges, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
