What does a Senior Financial Accountant do:
We are currently seeking a Senior Financial Accountant with a minimum of 4 - 5 years’ experience in accounting. The candidate will be responsible for significant portions of the month-end general ledger close processes and for assisting the Accounting Manager in multiple areas, with the overall objective being to ensure that the accounting records for the various entities are properly maintained. This includes managing the accounting for a foreign subsidiary.
As a Senior Financial Accountant, the position calls for a flexible work approach and the ability to handle multiple and varied tasks. The ideal candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, work under pressure and meet strict deadlines. The individual should work well in a team environment and be willing to help in other administrative areas as needed. They should also be extremely comfortable with Excel. This position reports to the Accounting Manager.
What You'll Do:
- Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring the integrity of the financial statements and associated general ledger accounts, complying with GAAP and company policy
- Prepare journal entries, general ledger account reconciliations, and in-depth analyses on material accounts
- Provide accounting and financial support to management as needed/assigned
- Prepare cash flow analysis and balance sheet comments
- Assist with financial statements review
- Assist with intercompany transactions and balances
- Maintain documentation of procedures and workflow for assigned areas of responsibility
- Work with external accounting firm to ensure that foreign entity books are properly maintained
- Review tax calculation for foreign entity
- Support other areas of accounting as needed, such as gathering information for tax preparers, auditors and/or any other government agencies
- Perform special tasks and projects as assigned
- Assist with migration to new accounting system (Microsoft Dynamics)
- Help implement AI technologies to support automation.
- Ensure controls are followed as part of our minimum control framework
What You'll Need:
- The ideal candidate should have an education that includes a Bachelor’s degree in accounting and at least 4 - 5 years of accounting experience in a dynamic/changing organization
- Public accounting firm experience with a mix of Audit and Tax duties
- Experience with G/L and month-end close process under tight deadlines
- Willingness to work in a team environment and do what is necessary to ensure timely completion of tasks
- Eager to learn and grow with the organization
- Strong MS excel skills are a prerequisite
- Good knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
- Accounting system experience in Microsoft Dynamics or other ERP systems a plus
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to research and reconcile complex general ledger accounts
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining strong attention to detail
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees and clients at all levels of the organization
- Ability to maintain information in a professional and confidential manner
- Written and verbal fluency in English
